RETSCREEN® SOFTWARE SOLAR WATER HEATING WORKSHOP
This workshop provides an introduction to solar water heating technical and economic analysis using the RETScreen renewable energy software.

RETScreen is a free software tool created by the Canadian government to conduct feasibility analyses for renewable energy systems. National Grid currently requires commercial customers that apply for solar water heating rebates to use the RETScreen tool to model projected solar system performance and economics.

This workshop will provide contractors and solar installers with an understanding of how to use the RETScreen tool both to meet National Grid requirements and to model systems in general. The workshop will be highly interactive, and will involve cooperative problem solving using case studies drawn from real projects. This training is appropriate for commercial installers with some familiarity in solar thermal installation

The workshop is sponsored by National Grid in conjunction with the City of Boston’s Solar City Partnership with the US Department of Energy, and hosted by the Boys and Girls Club of Boston’s Yawkey Club of Roxbury. The Yawkey Club has both solar water heating and solar electric systems installed on its roof.

Cost: $15 donation payable by cash or check to the Boys and Girls Club at the door

11TH ANNUAL CONGRESSIONAL RENEWABLE ENERGY + ENERGY EFFICIENCY EXPO + FORUM
On July 31, the Sustainable Energy Coalition - in cooperation with Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Caucuses - will host the 11th annual Congressional Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency EXPO + Forum.

This year's EXPO will bring together more than three dozen businesses, sustainable energy industry trade associations, government agencies, and energy policy research organizations to showcase the status and near-term potential of the cross-section of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. A morning news conference will feature Members of the U.S. Congress while afternoon speakers will discuss the role sustainable energy technologies can play in meeting America's energy needs.

As Congress, the Administration, the business community, environmental advocates, and American voters search for options to address ever-higher energy prices, increased reliance on energy imports, and the potential threat posed by rising levels of greenhouse gas emissions, the EXPO will help address the role that sustainable energy technologies might play. This will include not only the technical aspects of renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies but also related issues such as economics, jobs potential, environmental benefits, current and near-term market potential, model programs in the public and private sectors, institutional and legal barriers, etc.

GREEN BUILDING FINANCE & INVESTMENT FORUM
The commercial real estate market is undergoing a sea-change. Green buildings now set the bar for projects, having proven their value premium in the market and their allure to first-class tenants. Increasingly, those who build and invest in LEED standard buildings, as well as those who invest in green retrofits of existing real estate portfolios, are creating value for the long-term, while those who don’t are risking asset-depreciation.

However, only those who fully understand how to maximize green value creation—in both new projects and in retrofits to existing assets—will be able to develop, lend to, or invest in successful projects. This is your chance to network with the leading developers, lenders, investors and industry experts, and learn not only how to take advantage of today’s “high performance” standards, but also how to position yourself and your business for new developments already on the horizon: portfolio-wide retrofit protocols, green leases, intelligent and net-zero buildings, and more.

Building on the momentum of Infocast’s remarkably successful Green Building Finance & Investment Forum – West, Infocast has brought together the most forward-looking and incisive industry practice and thinking around green buildings in order to provide a venue for highlevel networking among participants who have made substantial commitments to sustainable property development and investment.
